Green Tips For The Beginner

by Cindy
(Trinidad)

Living a green lifestyle is not as difficult as you think. You can compare it to the saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" which means, don't sweat it, you'll get there one day. Keep making little changes in your life until they become habits. Eventually, before you know it, your entire family has fully embraced the green way of life.

One of the best things to start changing is your diet. What we eat affects how we feel and how we feel dictates our choices. If you slowly try to introduce more fruits and vegetables into your life, you will find your mental state starting to change. A lot of processed food and meat can create a very dull and robotic state of mind. When you lift the effects, the world starts to become more alive! You will appreciate the beauty in all things and will desire to be kinder to mother earth and all her living creatures.
Eating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables will eventually remove the toxins within your body and you will become healthier and happier.

Another easy habit you can change is how you clean your home. Using chemical cleaners isn't the answer to saving the environment. We have become so accustomed to television programming and marketing that we don't realize we're using artificial chemicals to clean! You can switch to cleaning machines that use only steam, i.e. steam cleaners and steam mops. There are numerous brands that are available and if you're worried about cleaning your carpets, fear not. There are many excellent carpet steam cleaners that will power through the dirt and sanitize your home better than before.

Lastly, another easy way that you can change your life is to slowly move away from using medicines in daily life. There are many alternative medicines that are more natural and will help you feel better in a flash. Some alternative medicines include acupuncture, homeopathy and even practicing qigong. One of the best ways to maintain physical fitness is to practice yoga daily or weekly. This can help to alleviate depression and reduce stress and not to mention, tone those muscles!
Instead of reaching for cold tablets whenever you get the common cold, try to use herbal remedies like herbal teas. Or, you can simply get more rest and relaxation.

These are just a few things to get you started on your green lifestyle. You don't need to make huge leaps, small steps will eventually get you there.
